Didymo found in 5 Gaspe Rivers (francais) December 15th, 2006
Didymo forms algal mats that can smother the bottom areas of streams, and could affect Atlantic salmon production. In 2006, for the first time, it was found in rivers of the Gaspe.

On Saturday, June 9, groups and individuals concerned about the future survival of native alewives (gaspereau) on the St. Croix River will symbolically escort this historically and ecologically important fish up the river.
