Penobscot River

The Penobscot River Restoration Trust is working to implement an innovative program of restoration that has brought the hydro company (PPL Ltd.) together with the Atlantic Salmon Federation and five other conservation organizations, along with the Federal Government, State Govenrment and Penobscot Indian Tribe. The project will see the decommissioning of two outdated dams, a major new fish lift at a third, and all with a redistribution of power production that would maintain 95% of the power production.
